Wide Format Scanner

The following data sheet explains how to use the Wide Format Scanner for larger documents and artwork.

All documents/artworks should be covered by a sheet of acetate or clear film. Any artwork done in charcoal, paint, or any form of media that may rub off, must be spray adhered first.  

Step 1:  Turn the Scanner on.

Make sure the green light is on. If not, then press the power button to turn the scanner on.

Step 2:  Search for the "Nextimage" app on the desktop.

Once you're logged onto the computer, go to the search bar at the bottom left of the desktop and type in Nextimage. Once you found it, open the app.

Step 3:  Select "Tools" tab.

Once you have the app opened, go up to the top of the screen and select the "Tools" tab. From there scroll down and click the options panel.

Step 4:  Change Measurements (One-Time Only)

Once you're in the options panel, change the "Units of measure" to inches. You will only have to do this upon your first time using the scanner. All future uses of the scanner will retain your changes.

Step 5:  Adjust the Input size in the preset panel.

Now you'll move to the right side of the screen and adjust the input size. Make the input size the same size as the image that you are scanning.

Step 6:  Make sure the Resolution is set to 300 dpi.

Drop down the resolution tab and check to see if the resolution is set to 300 dpi, if not, then adjust the settings as needed.

Turn on Soft Handling.

In the options panel, underneath the resolution panel, there is a box called Soft Handling. Make sure this box is filled in. This setting is not needing for scanning, but it is recommended.

Step 7:  Image Adjustment

Next, head down to Image Adjustment and change the image type to "Color (24 bit)".

Step 8:  Saving in the correct location.

Head to the "Output File" tab. Make sure to change your "Save In" location to your desktop.

Save as a ".tif" file.

It recommended that you save your file as a ".tif" file type.

Step 9:  Insert document/artwork into scanner.

Once everything is set up correctly, insert your document/artwork into the scanner. Line your paper up with the center of the scanner and slowly insert it. The scanner will latch onto the image and pull it inward to set it.

The scanner will feed the paper all the way through until it reaches the end. The paper will move along the catcher underneath the scanner.

Step 10:  Start Scanning

After all your settings are correct and your document/artwork has been inserted into the scanner, you may begin scanning.

At the bottom right of the screen is a green button. Press this to begin scanning.

Once the image is finished being scanned, you can use the arrows on the front of the scanner to feed the rest of the image through. Use the forward arrow while holding onto the document/artwork until it is released from the scanner. Likewise, you can also use the back arrow to pull the document/artwork back through the scanner, if needed.
