Astra - How to Create a Search Filter

Updated on

This article outlines how to create search filters in Astra. This is particularly useful if you frequently check the availability of certain types of spaces, such as classrooms, computer labs, or event spaces.

Additional information and resources are found in the Astra page in MyCIA. Prior to requesting spaces, please check the Black Out Dates calendar to ensure there are no conflicts.

  1. Go to http://astra.cia.edu and log in with your CIA credentials (CIA username and network password).
  2. Once you are signed into Astra, go to Calendars and then select Scheduling Grids.

2. Follow Steps 2-7 of Astra - How to Check Room Availability to select desired rooms you want to group.

3. Click the small floppy disk icon under the Search bar to Save Filter.

4. In the new box, type the name you’d like to refer to this filter as. Check the box next to Set as default if you’d like this to be your default filter for when you first open Astra. Then click Save.

5. You will see your new filter name in the drop-down menu to the left of the Save Filter icon.

If you do not select a default filter, you will see the results of your latest filter search in Scheduling Grids. If you are on a new computer or have recently cleared your browser cookies, then you will see all spaces without any filters applied.

6. If you have multiple filters saved, you can easily switch between them by clicking the drop-down menu and selecting the name of the desired filter.

7. You can manage your filters by clicking the Gear icon next to the Save Filter icon. Here you will have the option to change your default filter or delete filters with mistakes by clicking the red X to the left of the filter’s name. You do not need to have a default filter selected.

Note: You must click OK to save any changes.

8. You cannot edit a filter. To make changes, repeat the steps outlined above to create a new filter. You can also select your existing filter, make the necessary changes in the filters, and save the new filter. It is recommended that you use a new name for your new filter.
