The Interactive Media Lab supports temporary gallery loans for artwork and objects displayed within IML-managed exhibition spaces.
Gallery loans may be approved in the following increments:
3 months
6 months
1 year
Loan duration is established in advance and documents as part of the Gallery Loan Agreement.
While on CIA premises, loaned artwork will be given the same standard of care as similar to CIA-owned property. Unless the lender provides their own insurance, artwork is insured under CIA’s fine art insurance policy for the duration of the loan while the artwork is on CIA premises. Insurance coverage does not include transportation to or from CIA unless handled by CIA Exhibitions or Gallery staff.
No alteration, restoration, or repair of loaned artwork will occur without written authorization from the lender. Artwork may not be withdrawn prior to the end of the agreed loan period as outlined in the agreement. Artwork not reclaimed within six months after the loan period ends may become the property of CIA, as defined in the agreement.
Additional terms, conditions and responsibilities related to gallery loans are outlined in the IML Gallery Loan Agreement, which governs all gallery loan activity.
