Printing to the DOC ColorPress

Updated on

The ColorPress is a toner based printer, located in the DOC PreProduction room (room M114). This is a self-service for CIA users to print on 8.5"x 11" or 12"x18" text weight or card weight papers stocked in the printer. Print jobs can be sent from any workstation in the DOC or from CIA user's personal laptops (click here for laptop printing setup instructions).

Students may also bring in their own paper to print on this device but MUST first have it approved by the DOC Manager or Specialist. Failure to do so could result in damage to the equipment for which users are responsible.

Expand or collapse content 1. Open the file & start the print process

After opening and editing the image to be printed, click on the "File" drop-down menu at top left and select "Print" (or hit commmand + P).

Use the paper size drop down menu to select the US Letter (8.5" x 11") or Tabloid Oversize (12" x 18") page size.

Depending on the application being used to print, this option may be located in a separate "Print Setting" or "Page Setup" dialoge box.

If a page size other than 8.5" x 11" or 12" x 18" is selected then the print job may not either print correctly or cause an error on the printer; please see a DOC staff member if assistance is needed.

Use the dialoge's provided print preview to confirm the paper size & corresponding image size and orientation as well as copies and number of pages, if applicable.

Do not change any other settings unless otherwise advised by a DOC employee. Things like orientation and 2-sided printing will be controlled through the selected printer.
